J. Hollett,aka "East Coast Illson",is a genre bending artist who combined Rock, Rap, R&B, Hip Hop and Pop to create a conceptual masterpiece detailing the life of a "Blue Collar" working man with the release of his debut album "Blue Collar Blues".
J. Hollett started his journey in 1996 with bandmate and producer Jon Connor. Known for his clever freestyles and larger then life personality, J.Hollett was in the studio religously recording 3 mixtapes "Man Vs Machine", " Can of Whip Ass", and his most talked about CD "Beast Of The East". 10,000 of those mixetapes were pressed and distrubuted throughout the DelMarVa region. He has appeared on MSB entertainment (Koch) albums "Prohibition" and "White Boys In The Game". J.Hollett has worked with many notable producers and artists such as Hell Rell (Dip-Set), Journalist, Corey Clark (American Idol), Haystak (Street Flavor), Sonny P (Street Flavor), D Moet (Nas, C.N.N), David Ivory (D'Angelo, Erica Badu, The Roots, Patti Labelle), Mike Tarisa (Gerald Lavert, Tina Marie), Tim Hill (Bushwick Bill, Lil John, 8 Ball & M.L.G.) and Jon Conner (Haystak, Rehab, JoJo Pellagrino). the album features Hell Rell, Haystak, Corey Clark, Charlie P, DGoode, Sonny P, Jon Connor and Jay're. production on the album was done by Jon Connor and staff at Big Boy Beatz Inc. Combining the lyrics and flow of a seasoned emcee with accustics and rock guitars, smooth piano lines and hard hitting hip hop beats J. Hollett has created a true fusion of Rock and Rap and its called "Blue Collar Blues".
