Take big hair, tight ripped jeans, black eyeliner, and androgynous fashion. Multiply it by heartbreak, angst, cynicism, and irony. Divide this by distorted guitars, catchy synth hooks, screaming, and moaning. Then take the square root of destruction and the product is somewhat akin to the imbalanced equation of Girlsrisewithheat.
Performance artist, Dominic Martin (who takes the stage name Dominic Martin, and has been called the Marc Almond of his generation), became the electro, new wave, hardcore, one man, mash-up known as Girlsrisewithheat in late 2004. The project originated as the brainchild of Dominic's cynicism on petty high school stereotypes and awkward situations that he personally encountered. A good example would be the song, "electrotrash." The song was written about a bulimic model, who Dominic dated his sophomore year in high school, and is a cynical view on teenage modeling, and underage dating (since the girl was seventeen and cheating on him with a twenty-nine year old man.) Dominic's blatant opinion mixes quite well with his spastic stage antics, which have included fun games like mannequin head volleyball, the smashing of random instruments, and other props that seemed appropriate at the time. In early 2005, Dominic began to throw his music out in the open without even realizing what would become a year later-- complete success.
